Some historical places which we should visit at least once in our life

In January,2013 I visited India .My main aim was to visit the Taj mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world and most beautiful and costly tombs in the world.  The history of Taj Mahal is very interesting because everyone knows it's the symbol of love . So why it is called the symbol of love ? Do you know the history behind it ?

Taj Mahal
History of Taj Mahal

The origin of the name "Taj Mahal" is not clear.Court histories from Shah Jahan's reign only call it the tomb of Mumtaj Mahal. It is generally believed that "Taj Mahal" is an abbreviated version of her name,Mumtaz Mahal.

Plan of Taj Mahal
The construction of the marble masterpiece is credited to the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan who erected this tomb in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaj Mahal, who died in AH 1040(AD 1630).Her last wish to her husband was "to build a tomb in her memory such as the world had never seen before".Thus emperor Shah Jahan set about building this fairytale like marvel.
The construction of Taj Mahal was started in AD 1631 and completed at the end of 1648 AD.For seventeen years, twenty thousand workmen are said to be employed on it daily ,The material was brought in from all over India and central Asia and it took a fleet of elephants to transport it to the site. The central dome is 187 feet high at the centre. ( Zahoor.A & Haq.Z,1997, Taj Mahal,Agra,India, Retrieved from

Delhi Fort
This is another historical place where I visited .The Red fort is one of the most popular tourist destination in old Delhi, attracting thousands of visitors every year.
Humayun's Tomb
Humayun's Tomb is one of the best-preserved Mughal monuments in Delhi. The garden of the Humayun's tomb was so beautiful that i could not resist myself to lie on its grass. So me and my husband lied on the grass of that garden and had a nice view of that wonderful monument . It was simply amazing !
